Koi Fish and His Sail Boat

There is a lore that a group of koi fish swim up the river constantly trying to make it up the mountain to the Holy Gates to be turned into a Dragon. None of the koi ever made the journey until one. The one koi made it to the top of the mountain to the gates and was gifted transformation into the legendary Dragon.

This tattoo is actually on my father and I am so happy to be able to be working on this for him. We decided to do blue koi fish to represent masculinity, peace, serenity, and calmness. The sailboat is based off my family’s sailboat and filled in spaces with Starwars themed maps and grey wash clouds to mix together the 737 airplane he already had from another artist.
